The Barony of Ayreton is unique in that it is composed of five Cantons of distinct personality and culture. These five Cantons form the baronial lands.

Foxvale
Our local group of Foxvale is located in the western suburbs of Chicago. You will currently find many of our meetings located in Aurora and Montgomery, IL.
Grey Gargoyles
We are the Chicago (South Side) chapter the SCA, and home of the first king of the Midrealm.
In 2024, the canton of Grey Gargoyles folded, and ceded their territory to the Barony.
Rokkehealden
The Canton of Rokkehealden is the southwest suburban Chicago chapter of The Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) and one of five cantons. Rockhealdan was started in the late 1970’s in Naperville.
Tree-Girt-Sea
We are the north side Chicago (including the near north and near west suburbs) chapter of the SCA.
Vanished Wood
The Canton of Vanished Wood is located in the northwest Chicago suburbs.
Baronial Territory
Since Grey Gargoyles folded, the territory they used to occupy now belongs solely to the Barony of Ayreton. They are may no longer exist as a canton, but Grey Gargoyles is a part of our history that will never be erased.
Neighboring groups
Ayreton enjoys strong ties to our cousins in the neighboring areas. We often travel to their lands to engage in activities like socials, art classes, martial practices and events.
The Barony of Carraig Ban
The Barony of Carraig Ban is geographically located in northwestern Illinois, from Elgin to Rockford to DeKalb. Many of our gatherings are centrally located in DeKalb near Northern Illinois University.
Shire of Ravenslake
The Shire of Ravenslake is a local group within the SCA serving Lake and McHenry counties of Illinois.
Shire of Greyhope
Based in Lake, Porter and LaPorte Counties of Northwestern Indiana, Greyhope is part of the Midrealm.
The Kingdom of the Midrealm
Our great kingdom encompasses Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, the Lower Peninsula of Michigan, and parts of Kentucky, Iowa, and Ontario.
