Their Royal Majesties Dag & AnneMarie, on the event of Their Coronation, with the welcome aid and generous sponsorship of the Barony of Ayreton, present to all those who pursue the Combative Arts within our Society,
A Tournament of Pageantry
The tournament will begin with a Procession presenting combatants and consorts to Their Royal Majesties. The combats shall follow the manner styled after William the Marshall. To wit, an open field where challenges may be freely given and accepted. The exact conduct of an individual challenge, regarding number of blows or passes, may be agreed between combatants. However, combatants may not change weapons during the course of the contest (save for breaking a weapon or necessary armor.)
A point will be awarded for each victory. Declining a challenge will result in a victory point for the challenger and a deduction of a point from the declining combatant’s score. Those vanquished must hie themselves to the Royal Pavilion and report the name of that worthy who has bested them e’er they return to the field. After this fashion, the tourney will continue for one half of the hour. After which, the combatants shall be divided into thirds by number of victories. For the next half hour, those with the most victories will fight amongst themselves exclusively, those with the least, and those in the middle in like manner.
In addition to points awarded for victories, and to promote the Spirit of Pageantry, We intend to award additional points for the appearance of combatants, both on the field and in their initial Presentation.
Such points will be awarded for the following, and be added to the combatant’s TOTAL SCORE. Victory will be awarded to the combatant with the greatest total.
+ 1 Heraldic Surcoat/embroidered tunic
+1 Heraldry/period figure on shield
+1 Processional banner
